Dxpedition Leader

Tom was first licensed in 1960 as KN4TSJ and soon thereafter upgraded to  K4TSJ.   He soon realized DX was the only way to do ham radio.  Over the years Tom has lived in a number of states and held the calls W8FCI, AL7EL, K8XP and at present N4XP while residing in Northeast Georgia.  He also has held and  operated as OK8XP, ON9XP, C82XP and V73XP.  

He retired after 36 years as a career fire fighter with the Federal Fire Service and still provides consulting services in firefighting operations and management worldwide.

DXCC entity totals are now 340/367 with DXCC #1 Honor Roll, Honor Roll -  Mixed, SSB and CW and 9 band DXCC.
WAZ totals are 5 Band WAZ and WAZ - Mixed, SSB and CW.  Tom was inducted into the CQ DX Hall of Fame at the Dayton Hamvention in 2009.

Tom has traveled extensively both operating singularly and on DXpeditions.  To date he has been in 46 countries and operated from 24 of them.    

He has served as leader, co-leader or member in 5 DXpeditions of the year  and numerous other rare locations such as
Scarborough Reef –
BS7H, Kingman Reef -
K5K, Midway Island –
K4M, Spratley Island -
9M6OO, Wake Island - KH9/AL7EL,
Palmyra Island – N4XP/KH5,
North Cook Island – ZK1XXP and more.
Most recently he led the DDXA on Svalbard Island as JW0A.

He is a member of the Southeastern DX Club, INDEXA, a lifetime member of ARRL and a founding member of the Dateline DX Association.
